Sanmingzhi Short Story: Write to be read, to be seen

Sanmingzhi Short Story: Write to be read, to be seen

Every day begins with a blank space. Some days it’s a page, some days it’s only a few lines—but every word counts.

In this bi-weekly writing workshop, writers gather to build a rhythm, a pulse. Under the gentle guidance of Julia Hollingsworth and Maya Goel, you’ll write—fiction or nonfiction—bit by bit, day by day. You’ll share fragments, receive thoughtful comments, and begin to see your work, and yourself, more clearly.

Julia and Maya believe that writing doesn’t come from sudden bursts of inspiration—it grows quietly from attention, curiosity, and persistence. In their sessions, they’ll help you notice what your sentences are trying to say, what your stories long to become.

You’ll come to each meeting with something new—sometimes rough, sometimes shining. You’ll leave with their reflections, questions, and encouragement to keep going. Over time, the pages will gather, and a story will take shape—yours.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to live closer to their writing life—to show up daily, to be read, to be seen.

Because writing every day isn’t just a practice.

It’s a way of listening to yourself, one page at a time

About the tutors

Notes from Julia:

The two week Sanmingzhi writing course is a tool that I wish I had when I was starting out as a writer. The daily feedback from tutors, with their own established writing practice, not only offers accountability but a path forward for finding your style, voice, and giving your subject the time it deserves to come to fruition.

Notes from Maya:

This is a two-week intensive workshop where your work gets dedicated attention at both a micro and macro scale. With one-on-one guidance, we give you detailed in-text comments and overall feedback on each section at the end of every writing day. Don’t worry if you have a busy schedule, you only need to write up to 300-500 words a day! We will walk you through the process until you have a polished piece of which you can be proud. Bring your ideas for the short stories, essays, memoirs or fragments you have always dreamed of writing. We can't wait to read your work!
